There are several official Vitamix accessories available for your Vitamix blender. I know that I’ve mentioned some of them in other articles before, but I thought it’d be a good idea to have a separate post that contained all of them in one location. Hopefully this will help you decide if any are essential for your needs. I think I’ll start by talking about the Vitamix containers first, since that’s probably the most popular thing people ask me about. If you have any specific questions about a product make sure to let me know in the comments section below and I’ll try to answer them as best I can. I’ll also quickly include a link to the full: Vitamix accessory page
Thankfully every model supports the various jar sizes, aside from the smaller S30 model. It’s important to note that there are two types of containers to choose from as well: wet and dry. The difference is in the blades and how they blend ingredients. You’ll be using the wet jar for the majority of tasks. The dry container is specifically for blending grains and tends to do a better job when making nut butters or doughs. You can only get the dry container in a 32-oz size though unlike the wet-style which is offered in multiple sizes.
The Vitamix container you receive included with your blender is typically a 64-oz wet-style jar. I think of this as a general purpose type and it handles most tasks really well. The wet containers come in the following sizes: 64-oz, 48-oz, and 32-oz. A smaller jar tends to be better when you’re making small batches or single serve recipes. The 32-oz size is especially good for smoothies and other quick recipes. I should mention that if you buy either the 48-oz and 32-oz jar you’ll have the added benefit of being able to fit your blender underneath your kitchen cabinets. The 64-oz container makes the machine a bit too tall for that for most people.
They have a total of 7 different cookbooks on their website. Each book covers a specific theme of food. I think it’d be best if I just listed them below. I should mention that if you buy a dry grains container, you’ll get the Whole Grains cookbook for free. If you want a recommendation I’d suggest you consider the 101 Blender Drinks. It’s pretty affordable and comes with some delicious drink recipes that are easy to make.
There are a few items that don’t really fit in a specific category. Vitamix offers a 15-oz smoothie cup with rubber grips and is double-walled to prevent your cold drinks from melting too fast. They also have a BPA-free 22-oz flip top bottle. This is great for fresh juice or smoothies. The flip top prevents any chance of your drink spilling. I got one of these to use while I’m on the go and it works perfectly.
If you love making fresh juice, they have a filtration bag as one of the Vitamix Accessories. This will filter out any pulp or other bits and leave you with just pure juice. There are pros and cons to this, I wrote an article detailing them which you can read: click here
Aside from those the Vitamix company also offers an extended 3-year warranty as an “accessory” for $120. The blenders normally come with either a 5 or 7-year warranty, which is already really long, but this is something to look into if you want even more coverage. You’d have close to a decade amount of warranty should your blender ever need repairs. They also pay shipping both ways when handling repairs.
Hopefully this will help you decide whether you need any of these accessories for your blender. At the very least it’ll make you aware of what the company currently offers. Sometimes you can find the items cheaper on Amazon, so take a look there to compare prices and possibly save a little money. I’ll include the link to the handy “Dry Grains” container in case you’re interested!
I really appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to read this article. Happy blending!
