The Vitamix Professional Series 200 is in the C-Series blender line. It’s only available in one color and the Vitamix company has given it a retail price of $479. The features and power are the same as you’d find on a 5200. In fact, that’s basically what this model is. The accessories are how it differs mostly.
I’ll still break everything down and go over the included features in an effort to help you decide whether this is the right model for you. It’s important to hear the good and the bad about a product before you commit to buying something. I want you to find the perfect blender for your needs.
Motor
The Vitamix 200 comes with the standard Vitamix motor found in many other models. Its specification is a powerful 2.0 horsepower at 11.5 amps. This is enough to crush ice cubes and liquefy fruits without breaking a sweat.
It’ll handle so many different demanding tasks and allows the machine to do the work of multiple other appliances. You won’t have a need for a dedicated juicer or grinder for instance. It definitely gives you more performance than you may be used to if you’ve only ever used other under-powered blenders.
Noise/Safety
Every high-end blender with a motor this size must deal with noise. Some people are more annoyed by this than others, but it’s something to be aware of. The higher the speed, the louder the noise. Most recipes can be finished pretty quickly though, unless you’re preparing a hot soup recipe or something which might take around 4-5 minutes.
There’s a cooling fan system that helps your machine run smoothly. As the motor heats up, air is blown over the inside to keep everything at a nominal temperature.
Even if you blocked the air vents and ran the blender, the circuitry is smart enough to shut the whole thing down immediately until the heat dissipates. It’s a nice safety feature to have to ensure your product lasts.
Container
You’ll receive the standard 64-ounce container with the Vitamix Series 200. The lid is vented to allow steam to be released when making hot soups, otherwise, pressure would build up inside and blow the lid off. It’s rather tall at 13.4″, giving this blender a maximum height of 20 1/2 inches.
The jar is also quite hefty as well, weighing just over 2 1/2 pounds! You may want to measure underneath your cabinets to make sure this is going to fit. Many people have to remove the container and set it next to the base, not a huge deal but it might bother a few. Thankfully the material used is BPA-free and dishwasher safe.
Functionality
There aren’t that many control options available on the front panel since this is a more basic unit. You have the common 1-10 manual speed dial at your disposal, but no automated presets. There also isn’t a dedicated pulse switch. Instead, there’s a switch to choose between “high” or “variable” modes. Selecting high gives you an instant constant speed and selecting variable starts slower and gradually speeds up. Both have their uses for different tasks.
The lack of the pulse switch isn’t too big of a deal. I think many people just turn their machine on and off to manually pulse their mixtures that way. I have no idea if this is “good” for the switch or the blender so I don’t personally recommend it. Not having a pulse switch is something to consider when thinking about choosing this model.
The blades and motor are both connected to each other. This design transfers heat generated by the motor directly into your blending mixture. This is what makes the natural oils in raw nuts to be released and gives you the ability to make homemade nut butters.

Conclusion
The Vitamix 200 blender offers you powerful performance and solid features. It’s a bit basic but it’s still capable of handling a wide variety of recipes. I think this would be a great choice if you don’t care about the lack of automated presets or the taller container size. It also includes a cookbook containing recipes contributed by professional chefs.
It’s important to mention that every Vitamix is actually assembled here in America. It’s made using at least 70% of parts from the USA. It’s a nice fact when so few products are being produced here. You’ll also be happy to know that an incredibly long seven year warranty is standard with this model. If you need repairs during that time, Vitamix will handle everything, even the shipping! Warranties are valid as long as the error is due to the blender failing and not caused by you. The warranty should make you feel great knowing you’ll have a quality blender that’ll be lasting for years to come. Good luck deciding whether this model variation is the right one for you!
