This Vitamix 5200 blender review will take a look at all aspects of the blender to help you assess the pros and cons of the machine. This model is actually the successor to the popular Vitamix 5000 model from the company. We’ll go through topics ranging from the functionality, the ease of cleanup, and everything in between.
I know how important it is to get all of the facts before buying an expensive product. In fact, the price of the Vitamix brand, in general, may seem excessively expensive to most people at first. This is a case where you definitely get what you pay for though.
There are so many different ways you can use the blender features. You’ll soon discover it has the ability to take place of many other appliances. Perhaps you’ll even find yourself cooking more homemade food for you or your family. We hope you enjoy your time reading about the blender and find this information helpful!
One of the reasons people seem to love the Vitamix 5200 blender is the powerful motor inside, which is rated at 2-peak horsepower. This propels the blades up to 240MPH, yes that’s pretty fast. These quality motors have an efficiency of about 75%, so in actuality, you’ll be getting around 1.5 horsepower. This is still much higher than the majority of mass-market blenders. Those of which are well below even 1 horsepower, puny and pitiful.
This allows the machine to handle a wide variety of tasks with ease. It can grind nuts, prepare smoothies, or even make ice cream. You don’t have to worry about the machine overheating either. It comes equipped with a radial cooling fan and thermal protection system. That means the machine will shut down on its own in the event of a worse case scenario. I’ve been able to try one for a few weeks and had no issues leaving it on for an extended period of time. I didn’t notice it struggling with anything I threw at it.
I mentioned that there are many uses that the blender can handle. It’s true that the machine is extremely versatile and can be used as other common appliances. I guess some people see the product and just see “blender”, but there’s so much more to it than that. There are also many different types of recipes you can make in this machine. Here’s where I’ll take the time to go over the standout functionality.
Grinding and Chopping
The machine has absolutely no trouble grinding hard ingredients such as nuts or spices. As an example, you can turn raw almonds into almond butter without any extra ingredients. You just have to toss the almonds in, turn it on, and wait for the process to be complete. The power of the motor combined with the heat generated brings out the natural oils and mixes everything together. It’s really quite impressive to see in person and just shows the benefits of having such a powerful machine. Chopping is another story and slightly more difficult. There isn’t a dedicated pulse button like you might expect. I found that it was easy enough to quickly turn it on and off though.
Juicing and Smoothies
A lot of people are obviously into eating healthier these days. One of the easiest ways to do that is by turning fresh produce into juice or a smoothie. I’m happy to report that the blender handles these without breaking a sweat. The smoothies, in particular, come out extremely smooth without any chunks of ice. This is one of the biggest positives for me as I absolutely love to make these in the morning. I should note that you won’t want to blend them on the highest speed though. I found that too much heat was created at the highest speed and warmed my smoothies and juice up a bit more than I’d like.
I’ve used the Vitamix 5200 to blend a wide variety of soups. All of them have turned out incredibly rich and smooth in texture. One of the nice things I noticed is that, unlike mass-market blenders, you can leave the appliance running at it’s highest setting without worrying about burning out the motor. The heat generated is also enough to heat your soups up if you leave it on long enough. The device made preparation simple and I was really impressed with how it handled the soups I made.
Yes, you can buy the replacement parts as you’d expect for your machine. There also happens to be a good amount of accessories you can get for the blender. I’ve seen an array of different blender jars. Not only are they available in different sizes but they also offer either the standard “wet” container or a “dry grains” container. Looking at a list the standard wet containers come in either 32, 48, or 64-ounce. Conversely, they only offer the dry grains container in the 32-ounce size. One of my favorite accessories I was able to use was the filtration bag. That’s used to filter out the pulp from your fresh fruit juices, which allows the nutrients to get absorbed into your body faster.
The most difficult thing when considering a Vitamix blender at first is getting over the price. There’s a lot of value that’s attached to it though and it provides so much functionality over a traditional blender. You really need to ask yourself if this model is the right choice for you. The company offers a standard 7-year warranty that covers practically everything. The machine is also made in the USA using at least 70 percent of parts from America.
I’ve made everything from smoothies, salad dressings, peanut butter, marinades, soups, and more. I only tested it a few weeks but it all performed very well for me. Definitely better than any mass-market blender that I previously used. I love that most jobs take less than 1 minute with this blender. I’m the type of person that loves to cook but I hate wasting time in the kitchen. There are a few gadgets that save me time in the kitchen and this was absolutely one of them. It’s not easy to always find the time to prepare food at home anymore and the Vitamix 5200 has helped immensely with that.
