Blendtec 675 Designer – A New Level Of Performance?

The Blendtec 675 Designer blender offers a ton of power and functionality. It’s priced at $550 and is available in three different colors to choose from: charcoal, champagne, and dark roast. There are many great features on-board including five automatic blending modes and an illuminated touch panel interface.

It’s the next step down from the more expensive 725 model and I’ll be sure to point out what the differences are between them in this article. I’m aware you have many blender choices, so I’ll cover as many details as I can to help you choose whether this is the best blender for your personal needs. Now let’s jump into the functionality!

Functionality

The first thing you’d probably notice about the machine is the capacitive touch panel. This is similar touch technology found in your smartphone. It really gives the blender a high-end, futuristic, feel when using it. It even tells you how much time is left when running any of the preset modes which is quite handy.

The included five automatic presets are the following: Smoothie, Frozen Treats, Whole Juice, Hot Soup, and Clean. I think most of them are pretty self-explanatory for their function. These allow you to add your ingredients into the container, select a preset, and let the Blendtec 675 blender do all of the work. The benefit to this is extremely consistent results. It knows exactly how long to blend each type of recipe so you don’t have to deal with using manual speed controls.

The “clean” mode is a simple way to clean your container after use. You add some water and a drop of dish soap and the preset handles the rest. I should mention that this model does lack the “Salsa” setting found on the more expensive 725 model, though probably not a huge deal for most people.

There are 8 different manual speeds to choose from if you prefer to have more control over the blending process. I think this is a pretty good amount and it gives a distinct feel to each option. There’s a dedicated pulse button as well which is great for chopping an ingredient or making delicate dishes like salsa. The 725 model does have a 100-speed touch slider in comparison. They both offer a neat feature called “Add 10”, which quickly adds 10 seconds to any blend cycle.

Power

Every Blendtec blender is known for having a powerful motor inside. The standard rating is typically 3.0-horsepower, but this 675 model goes into extreme territory and offers a massive 3.8-horsepower! This is the same type of motor that can be found in the high-end Pro 800 and the 725 model. That means you have even more power to tear through the toughest ingredients.

The blender obviously has no trouble devouring any ingredient you stick into it. Blendtec created a popular YouTube show called “Will it blend?” where they demonstrate their machines blending cellphones and other ridiculous objects. There’s plenty of power inside to handle your smoothies, soups, and whatever else. I’ll embed a video below to showcase what the blenders are capable of.

Motor Safety

As you’d expect, there’s quite a bit of heat generated from a motor this size. In fact, the heat is transferred directly into your blender jar when you leave the machine on. This is what gives you the ability to make steaming hot soups. Most recipes in the included cookbook can be prepared in under a minute though, which doesn’t give the machine enough time to boil all of your recipes.

You don’t need to be worried about the Blendtec 675 blender overheating though. The machine is designed to suck air in from the base which then flows over the motor to help keep everything running optimally. If the vents were to get clogged for any reason, the blender would turn itself off as the heat started to rise. I’ve never had that happen to me before but it’s nice to know that the feature exists just in case.

Negatives

As far as negatives go it’s the usual. Any blender from a high-end brand produces quite a bit of noise at its max speed and this model is no different. Some people are more sensitive to this than others. You can’t really get around it unless you go for a Stealth model. Most recipes can be completed in under a minute though. I also recommend placing a rubber mat underneath your blender to help dampen the noise a bit. This model also doesn’t have the “Blend Rewards” from Blendtec which is unfortunate. The 725 model gives you reward codes that provide discounts on recipe books, gift cards, kitchen utensils, jar discounts, and more.

Conclusion

I do like the Blendtec Designer 675 quite a bit, it offers outstanding performance and some really cool features. It’s more powerful than the original Designer Series while still keeping the same type of functionality. I don’t see how it would struggle with any sort of tough ingredient when there are videos of it turning electronics into fairy dust.

The overall interface is also really straightforward and easy to understand. I know most blenders come with analog buttons and switches but I think a large majority of people will enjoy the digital inputs. There isn’t that much to it and everything is labeled well.

It’s important to mention that this model comes with a standard 8-year warranty. This means that if anything goes wrong, that isn’t due to human error, will be covered within that time frame. The previous Blendtec models came with a 7-year warranty so it’s nice to see that the company has extended their support even more. They’ll even pay shipping both ways when handling warranty issues, which is not something you’ll find on cheaper brands.

You’ll be the one that decides whether this model is right for you over one of the others. Take a look at the functionality and how it compares to other models. It’s good to know that Blendtec does offer a 30-day money back guarantee if you’re unsure and would like to try it for yourself.
