Blendtec Classic 575 Blender – Is it obsolete or not?

The Blendtec Classic 575 is a commercial grade blender that offers a ton of versatility and performance. It comes in six different colors and retails for $400. This places it on the more affordable end of the Blendtec product line. Does the lower price mean it has to compromise its power and features though?

I’ll attempt to review as much detailed information as I can in this article to help you decide whether this model is right for you. Scroll down and read the conclusion if you’re in a hurry and check out the current deals section below for the latest prices.

Power

Inside the base of the machine is a large 3.0-HP motor, which is typical for the majority of Blendtec models. At the time of this writing, only the 675, 725, and Pro 800 offer a 3.8-HP motor. That’s not to say the motor in the 575 is weak though. It’s plenty capable of handling any ingredient you throw at it. Having this motor also allows the machine to be a bit quieter than the models that carry the 3.8-HP motor.

Having a powerful motor is essential to ensure your mixtures have the smoothest consistencies. This fact is what sets high-end brands such as Blendtec apart from cheap mass-market blenders. Anything you blend will turn into a silky substance. Smoothies for instance won’t have any chunks of ice or vegetables in them. That’s a problem with many low-end brands you may be used to.

Demonstration

I’ll embed a video that perfectly demonstrates the type of power inside these Blendtec machines. Here you can witness the blender turning hard metal items into a powder. I think this does a good job of showcasing the performance you get, plus it’s just fun to watch. If the blender is capable of turning an alloy into dust, I’d say it can deal with some hard fruit or vegetables.

Overload Protection

There is obviously quite a bit of heat generated from such a large motor. This is actually what allows you to make hot soups, since the heat is transferred directly into your mixtures. Most recipes can be completed in under 60 seconds, so it isn’t really anything to be worried about in my opinion. Every high-end brand functions the same way.

Features

The Blendtec 575 control panel uses analog buttons instead of having a backlit touch sensitive interface like on higher models. Some people prefer one or the other and some people don’t have any preference at all. Blendtec did this to reduce the overall cost. You’ll have to decide whether you really need the backlit controls or if you don’t care.

Manual Control

You have access to a total of 5 manual speeds, 4 automatic presets, a pulse button, and a stop button. There are fewer manual speeds compared to more expensive models but I think each speed is distinctive enough for most people. The stop button works exactly how you’d expect it to but the pulse button has a neat trick. Pressing it while the blender is on will give an extra jolt of blending power.

Automatic Presets

The automatic presets are something I really love on the latest blenders. They can produce consistent results every time you use the machine. Which definitely helps make your blending experience even more enjoyable. If you aren’t aware of what they do, basically you add your ingredients and let the machine handle the entire blending process.

This model is a bit different and unique. Your 4 preset choices are the following: smoothie, 60-seconds, 90-seconds, and clean. Other blenders typically have multiple presets that are associated with a specific food category instead of just “smoothie”. They still do a fine job handling a variety of the included recipes and ones found online. I should also mention there is a small illuminated LCD screen that displays the time remaining when using each preset.

Conclusion

The Blendtec Classic 575 blender offers a lot of performance but lacks a couple nice features found on pricier models. The Blendtec 625 costs $80 more but includes different presets, a 6th manual speed, and a backlit touch interface. It might be worth choosing that model if those additions are something you want or need. Likewise, it’s possible those aren’t worth spending $80 more on. In which case, you can save some money while getting a blender that has the same power.

Blendtec Classic 575 BlenderAnother great perk to buying any Blendtec blender is the crazy long 8-year warranty that’s included with all new machines. That means you’ll be completely covered if you have any problems with the blender, well as long as it isn’t due to human error of course. They’ll even pay shipping both ways when handling repairs. You won’t get that type of coverage when buying low-end blenders. This is definitely one of those “you get what you pay for” things.

Overall I think most people would be very pleased with the 575 model. I guess the best thing for you to do would be to ask yourself which features are really important to you. Hopeful,ly that will help narrow your choices down. I should probably mention that Blendtec does also offer a 30-day money back guarantee if you aren’t happy for some reason. Thanks for reading, we appreciate it!
